It’s been a week and a half in the few days between the Cheery Milliner’s and my birthday, so we finally got around to putting together a nice meal more than perching over take out and cobbling sporadic tacos together.
They’ve been keen on more fish, so we pulled up some basa fillets, salt, pepper, and made a crumbly sauce of butter, so much lemon zest and juice, and far more garlic than was recommended. Psh. Amateur recipe writers, really. More garlic is always appropriate. Baked for twice as long as listed to get our flaking on. Only after draining off fluids for the second time did we realize that our frozen fillets probably should have been brought to fully thawed first. Oops. Well, it was fine, it turned out fine, so meh.
The Milliner had finished a small sourdough loaf earlier in the day, so some toasted slices with a thin double cream Brie, and that was the plate. Sake in glass and we were set to go.
A lovely simple meal to round off some exhausting days. Good food always helps.
