With the trendy place full, a delicious known quantity, we head down the street and try an unknown Japanese restaurant, helpfully (even sarcastically) labelled. Simple walls hung with lamenated pictures of party trays and combos. It’s good to have fresh sashimi, where the squid and surf clam aren’t rubbery but tender, the tuna is sweet, and the salmon pieces cherry orange; each slice tears itself apart when picked up, it’s so soft.
A pleasant reintroduction to west coast sushi.
